My partner and I stayed at Allegory Inn nearby the night before this hike as the temperature were going to be dropping and the wind speeds increasing throughout the day. We started at 0630. We cruised up to Eisenhower at over 2 mph which is great in winter. Often times trail conditions are such that travel is greatly slowed.
On top of Eisenhower the winds & windchill were significant if skin was exposed but we masked & goggled up. Winds must have been 30s where you get a little shove but not to the level of ”do not pass”. The gusts were another story. We quickly descended and went out & over Pierce as Monday is/was a work day for us. At Mizpah hut the snow shoes went on until Jackson. In my opinion choice of traction could have gone either way other than down to Mizpah & out to Jackson where crotch deep post holes could be had.
With the incoming snow predicted, this report will be not much help in the near future. You’re welcome.
