Friday night stayed in Gorham at Top Notch Inn. Made the reservation Wednesday night after watching the weather forecast stabilize a bit. Even the morning of the traverse the winds were predicted by MWOBS/NOAA to be 45 MPH sustained on Washington with gusts up to 55 MPH. This was wrong, i dont know what the winds were but they were light breeze level (which ended up being great).
Anyway…we started from Valley way at 0430. The trail was soggy from rain. Most of the trails over the coarse of the day had water running down them minus a few small sections. The only areas of monorail were down from Eisenhower to pierce which was avoidable but still large. Carried spikes & had no need. It is monday morning so keeping it brief, the day was excellent, the company was good though we moved faster than i am used to, & the worse variable we dealt with was the sun. Only other thing that seems noteworthy was at the end of the hike that black flies came into existance right at the car. Zero prior to that time.
