Had a rough air travel experience that resulted in me having a 25 hour day of travel then sleeping like piss at a questionable hotel. I think saying i got four hours of sleep would be generous. Anyway…. this hike was 30ish minutes from where i am staying in Reno. I noticed the trail reports for the Galena Creek route up Mt Rose were not favorable before the hike but decided my navigation skills are decent enough to proceed. In hindsight this was correct but it still added a bit of mental effort vs being able to shut the brain off & purely focus on the physical task at hand. I started at 0500ish. Google maps indicated the gates would be closed though they were not thankfully. Starting elevation was 6300ish feet. Coming from sea level i noticed the effort a bit mostly at the 9k mark. This was a hike i would not say i would do again by choice if i had never done it just for the navigation part. It was a great day out and the views from Mt Rose of Lake Tahoe were excellent.

Rock formation i used as a land mark when making my own path up to the summit
